
Why Pre-Doctorate?

If you have completed a Master's or Bachelor degree with a good grade from a a UK university you might like to consider a Pre-Doctorate preparation course. It is designed to help you prepare for a presentation of your research proposal to a university admissions panel. If you successfully complete the course you will be guaranteed an interview at one of our partner universities, provided your research interests match theirs.

The Pre-Doctorate taught at the University of Nottingham is for entry to an Engineering-related doctoral degree.

The Pre-Doctorate at Kaplan International College, London (KIC London) is affiliated to other partner universities; Aberdeen, Liverpool, UWE Bristol and Cranfield University.

What are the entry requirements?

Typical entry requirements are:

Minimum IELTS band score 6.0 for a 1 term Pre-Doctorate's course or 5.5 for 2+ terms including Preparatory English and with no less than 5.0 in any of the skills.

How long is a Pre-Doctorate's preparation course?

A Pre-Doctorate varies in length. Typically it is 12 weeks long, that is 1 term.

How much is a Pre-Master's?
​
Tuition fees usually cost £5,00 at the University of Nottingham. At KIC London, for 1 term £4,685. For 2 terms £7,170 and 3 terms £9,105.
